TEXT

I travel. I move. New sites are taken in. That which yesterday I took for granted and which had therefore become invisible, is suddenly becoming visible, perhaps provokingly much so and is reconsidered. I look and photograph, both the marvelous, the ugly, the weird, the banal. I travel on airplanes, trains, buses, I walk on my legs. The tempo mix-up things. Standing in New York I may believe that it is a fjell on Iceland which I see out the corner of my left eye. I remember what it felt like to walk there. The haste of the city reminds me of Gullfoss, the North Sea in storm or a dream I had once. In Sct. Petersborg I once had a grand experience seeing the big sculptures of the siege of the city during worldwar II- but the great things that man can do may be destroyed in a moment by nature. These thoughts and speculations I visualize in my pictures of "time-collapse". Here time, things and places that have nothing to do with each other are brought together, and the construction of a well-known reality falls apart, it collapses.

Mostly I print my graphics in black and silver. Silver will make a landscape flat and psychical so that it may function as the sky over an American city. The feeling of greatness from the Russian sculptures suit in fine - at first glance anyway - when you look closer it may fall apart - the meaning collapses. The Danish title "samtidig" has the double meaning "at the same time" and "collapse".

At this moment I have a series of 20 lithographs of that theme. I print them myself from offsetplates on a lithographic press. My material is photos taken by me on the different locations. The prints are from 10 x 10 cm to 25 x 30 cm. I plan some bigger ones to print this summer. I also paint pictures over this theme. They are from 20 x 24 to 80 x 120 cm.
