BIOGRAPHY
Roald Jostein Tellnes was born in Bergen, Norway, in 1946. After finishing his studies, he settled down on Norheim in Karmøy, where he has his atelier. His works of art comprise prints, sculptures and ceramics.
Roald Tellnes has held several separate exhibitions both in Scandinavia, Europe, USA and Japan. He has participated in many collective exhibitions, among others the European "Les arts en Europe".
His works of art are found in many art
galleries and official and private collections.

One of the most promising young artists in Norway today is Roald Tellnes. He has his own individual and special style. No artist since Rold Näsch has worked so intensely with material prints as Roald Tellnes. - exploring its expressive and creative possibilities.
Small pieces of scrap metal, netting and a wide assortment of waste materials have constituted the basis of his pictures. Through his knowledge of history, day to day experience and vision of our future, Tellnes has created his own sparkling cosmos. In many of his pictures Tellnes uses a motive he calls "Singing plants" and the reality which is portrayed takes place, to a large extent, in a self created "crystal forest". Here, everything happens despite time, space and the laws of physics.
Tellnes allows us to be carried away into a dream world, but preferably the fantastic universe shown in his works should stimulate us to further thought. He probably achieves both these aims.
Tellnes' pictures are very popular, and he has participated in frequent exhibitions throughout Norway. He has had a large number of special assignments and is in great demand in Denmark, Sweden and Germany. Tellnes is a found member of "WIR", a group of European artists.

ROALD J. TELLNES er født i Bergen i 1946, og har etter endt utdanning vært bosatt på Karmøy.
Hans utrykksform er høyst personlig, og han benytter seg av en skjelden og meget spesiell teknikk, materialtrykk. I materialtrykk benytter han metallbiter, netting, plast og andre gjenstander som bunnmateriale. Hver enkelt bit farges inn separat og trykkes inn under stort press. Dermed gis det en ny dimensjon til fargegrafikken.
Roald Tellnes har holdt mange separatutstillinger i Norge og utlandet, de siste årene i USA, Tyskland og Japan. På Vestlandstustillingen og Statens høstutstilling, har han deltatt både med grafikk og skulptur. I 1998 skal han bl.a. holde to viktige separatutstillinger. Først i OL-landsbyen i Nagano i Japan under vinterolympiaden 1998. Dernest sommerutstillingen i Tynset kulturhus i regi av Tynset kunstlag.
Bildene hans er innkjøpt av de fleste norske samlingene, og av institusjoner over hele Norden, i England, Frankrike og Tyskland. Mange av hans hovedverk kan man se i Haganes på Sotra utenfor Bergen. Her åpnet Fjell Kommune i 1993 et permanent kunstmuseum kalt "Roald Tellnes kunstsamling".
