"Suprematist Composition" (1916) by the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich (1879-1935) is a pivotal work in the history of abstraction. Malevich was the founder of Suprematism, a movement that sought to express pure feeling through non-objective forms. This painting, with its dynamic arrangement of geometric shapes and a powerful sense of spatial depth, is a beautiful example of his revolutionary vision.
