"The Spirit of the Rainbow" (ca. 1912-1919) by the American artist Henry Mosler (1841-1920) is an allegorical work. Mosler was known for his genre paintings and his depictions of rural life. This painting, however, shows a different side of his work, with its ethereal figure and a beautiful, dreamlike atmosphere, it captures a sense of spiritual and poetic wonder.
