Egon Schiele (1890-1918) was an Austrian Expressionist painter, a protégé of Gustav Klimt, known for his intense, often disturbing, self-portraits and figurative works that explore themes of sexuality, anxiety, and the human psyche. Two Women Embracing (1915) exemplifies Schiele's raw, expressive style. The painting captures an intense, emotional embrace between two figures, rendered with his characteristic angular lines and distorted forms. It conveys a powerful sense of intimacy and raw human connection, typical of his unflinching exploration of the human condition.
