Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist, and a pioneer of abstract art. He believed that color and form could express the artist's inner emotion and spiritual truths, founding the art movement of non-objective art. His work is characterized by dynamic compositions and a vibrant, expressive palette. Painting with Green Center is a key work in his abstract period.
