"The Japanese Footbridge" (1899) by the French painter Claude Monet (1840-1926) is a masterpiece from his famous garden series at Giverny. Monet, the founder of French Impressionism, was obsessed with capturing the play of light on water and atmosphere. This painting, with its lush colors and thick brushwork, beautifully conveys the serene and reflective atmosphere of his garden.
