"Artemis" (1893-1894) is a captivating piece by the Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916). Hammershøi was a master of a quiet, somber style, known for his muted color palette and his depictions of solitary figures in sparse, sunlit interiors. This work, however, shows a more classical approach, yet still maintains his signature sense of stillness and contemplation.
