Flo har hatt arbeids- og studleopphold i Tyskland (Berlin og Dresden). Italia (Arrezzo. Carrarra og Rom), Frankrike (Avignon. Bretagne og Paris) og i Venezuela (Atlanterhavskysten). Han er også sterkt knyttet til Flo-familens hjembygd i Nordijord.

Jøran Flo har mottatt Vederlagsfondets arbeidsstipend og Chr. Lorek Schives legat. I tillegg til 25 separatutstillinger. har han bidratt med arbeider ved de viktigste fellesmønstringene i norsk kunst de senere ar.

Jøran Flos verk skildrer kampen mellom kultur og natur. Gjennom et høvst personlig formsprog, aner man linjene bakover til den tidlige \ igeland i hans skulpturer. I de litografiske arbeidene fornemmes et uury-kks messig ,lektskap til hans forgjenger Edvard Munch.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Oslo in 1962. He has a solid fine art education. Graduated from the Norwegian art, craft and industrial design school. Studied for five years at the Norwegian states Academy of fine arts under supervision of the professors Guttorm Guttormsgard. Boge Berg. Steinar Kristiansen and others. Worked and studied abroad. in Berlin (Germany), Italy, France and Venezuela. Flo has been awarded The norwegian artists associations fund and The Lorck Schives legacy.

In addition to 28 solo-exhibitions in Norway, he has given his contribution to many of Norway´s most prestigious exhibitions with his sculptures, lithographs and drawings.

Joran Flo expresses the timeless human struggle between nature and culture. Through his own personal and highly individual forms one can sense the grip of the early Gustav Vigeland in his sculptures and trace lines of Eduard Much in his Lithographic works. All this in a manner that could not possibly be termed as superficial. A mighty expression, but pure in form, shape and interpretation.

BIOGRAPHIE

Flo est un jeune artiste norvégien. Né à Oslo en 1962, il a déjà derrière lui un solide bagage. Après l' école des Arts Appliqués, il a étudié pendant 5 ans à l´Académie des Beaux Arts d'Oslo avec comme professeurs Guttorm Guttormsgard, Boge Berg, Steinar Kristensen. Joran Flo a également effectué de longs séjours d'etude en Italie, au Venezuela et en France. Il a reçu une bourse d´étude de Ia fondation Vederlag et aussi de Ia fondation Christian Lorck Schive.

En plus de ses 28 expositions personnelles dans toute la Norvège, le sculpteur, graveur et dessinateur Joran Flo a participé aux plus importantes expositions collectives de Norvège.

Dans ses œuvres Joran Flo exprime volontiers le thème éternel et universel du combat entre nature et culture, toujours de façon calme et dépouillée pour une compréhension aisée. Cette forme d´expression est issue de Ia purification expressive exprimée dans les sculptures du jeune Gustav Vigeland ou dans les gravures d´Eduard Munch.
